The Dallas Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a red tow-truck that fled the scene of an accident where a pedestrian was struck and killed.
On August 12 at 2:28 a.m., the DCSO traffic unit was dispatched to Interstate 30 at 2nd Ave. for a major accident.
Preliminary investigation determined that a red tow truck collided with a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country Van. Due to the impact of the accident, the van spun and ended up facing on-coming traffic. The red tow truck fled the scene.
A Good Samaritan, identified as 25-year-old Donald Collins, stopped to help the occupants of the Chrysler van. At this time, a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling on I-30 struck Collins in the roadway. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Tahoe was identified as 33-year-old Irma Nelly Martinez-Leal.
She was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter, and two charges of Intoxication Assault with Vehicle.
