A 1-year-old girl was killed over the weekend when she was fatally struck by a rideshare driver who’d dropped her and her family off.

Officers were dispatched to the 15500 block of Waverly Drive where they discovered a small child with critical injuries.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a family had just arrived at their destination via a rideshare app. As some of the family members were getting out, the little girl also exited the vehicle.

The driver didn’t see the child cross in front of the car, and as he began to drive away, he struck her.

She was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

After witnessing the incident, family members pulled the driver from the car and assaulted him.

He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The little girl was just shy of her 2nd birthday.

  1. This is a tragedy but the mother should have been holding that child’s hand you do not let your child walk away without holding your tire or seeing where your child’s going

    1. Rihjt! The driver couldn’t see the child! Why beat up the driver when mom should have had the child!!

  2. Literally no one grabbed the one you wrote everybody made sure they got out the car and walked to the sidewalk. The other kids are older and you still make sure they got to the sidewalk. The first person I would’ve been grabbing is my one-year-old unless that was not her mom, and she was notas concerned about the one year-old then her own children this is terrible. This is very sad
