The young man has documented mental health issues. Even if that was unknown, the police could have tased him or shot him in the shoulder to immobilize the threat, not shoot him in his chest. That was a kill shot in my opinion.
This is one reason to totally ban qualified immunity
The department has immunity, at the end of the day he(officer) is black not blue and that’s all they needed him for, so I hope the family go after his pension when the department(WS) let him go. I wonder will they let him in on that Black Lives Matter money?

Those quick to judge police actions and propse unrealistic response by unarmed civilian mental health personnel dealing with an armed individual who was called in by family that felt threatened and unable to handle or deal with him in the situation. Training for such immediate threat scenarios do not include shooting the threat in the leg or arm. The armed, aggressive suspect was warned numerous times to stop and drop the knives but chose to advance closer and closer to the uniformed officer with knives in hand. The officer reacted within his training and guidelines to use force to stop the threat of serious injury or worse. What do we expect of anyone in this position and the probable outcome if this action was not performed with the threat moving closer — even within feet before action was taken. Sadly, the officer had no other choice. Prayers for all involved.
This should be removed. The helplessness of that man’s family could be heard in their cries. Not only were they helpless in saving their loved one, they are dealing with his loss, pain, and trauma. Mental illness is real and Texas is the worst state in the nation when it comes to getting help. Texas needs to do better than putting bullets in the hearts of those suffering.
