The Georgia Department of Corrections is investigating a fatal shooting inside a prison after the bodies of a man and woman were found Sunday morning.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. at Smith State Prison, police discovered the body of an inmate, Jaydrekus Hart, and the body of an Aramark food service employee, 24-year-old Aureon Shavea Grace.

According to reports, Hart shot Grace before turning the gun on himself and taking his life. The GDC revealed on Monday that a “personal relationship” existed between the two, which may have been a motive for the killing.

A suicide note left by the 34-year-old inmate was recovered following the incident.

He was serving 20 years for voluntary manslaughter with a maximum release date of June 2043.
