Shark Attacks Man While He’s Fishing In Florida

799views

On Friday morning, a shark severely bit a man on his right forearm as he was fishing in Florida. The shark attack has left him in critical condition.

The 40-something year old man had been on a boat off of Fernandina Beach, close to Jacksonville. He had caught the shark as he was fishing and threw it back into the water after it bit him.

At about 11:15 a.m., the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit had gotten a distress call over its emergency radio. When they arrived to the boat, they discovered that the man had a great amount of blood that had been lost.

“Upon arrival, NCSO deputies found the victim with a critical injury. Acting swiftly, a deputy boarded the vessel and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding,” NCSO noted on its Facebook page.

“The victim was immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition but is expected to recover.”

People in Florida experienced 16 attacks last year, or 44% of all the shark attacks that occurred in the U.S.
