Sha’Carri Richardson, of Dallas, was the fastest 100 meter sprinter in Friday night’s preliminary round at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Richardson is set to compete in the semifinals Saturday. Now if she finishes in the top three she will be off to Paris.

Although Richardson had a wobbly start Friday night she still came out on top finishing in 10.88 seconds.

In 2021 Richardson’s victory was taken away when she tested positive for marijuana and then had to deal with the loss of her mother.

“The fact that the world can see so much work I’ve done on myself, for myself, and the world receives that, I’m appreciative and I will always show up for my fans,” Richardson said.
