After she was said to have been pushed onto subway tracks in Manhattan and hit by a train after an argument with her boyfriend, a 29-year-old woman had both of her feet amputated.
The incident occurred close to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Fulton Street station at Chambers Street.
Bystanders told authorities that the woman and her boyfriend were having a dispute, prior to her being pushed.
The unnamed woman was transported to a medical facility where it is reported that she lost both of her feet.
“She may never be able to walk again. This is just one of many incidents we’ve been seeing this year alone,” stated the vice president of Passengers United.
City records reveal subway crimes have increased with a 13% hike in violence compared to this time in 2023.
On Wednesday, the governor of New York stated that she will send 750 members of the National Guard to the subways to help the New York Police Department with back searches at openings to busy train stations.
As of Saturday afternoon, no apprehensions had been made, but the investigation is still continuing.
