A woman recently explained via TikTok how she discovered a hidden camera in the bedroom of an Airbnb in Florida.
22-year-old Katelyn Boss stated, “I tried to stay calm so we weren’t losing our minds…but I was scared.”
Boss reported that the incident occurred in June while she was with a friend, 22-year-old Rachel Horman, in Miami. The pair had been in the city to look for properties as they are planning to relocate to the area.
“I was out…while Rachel stayed at home in the Airbnb. She was changing in front of a mirror and looked up and saw the camera in the light bulb,” Boss explained.
After Boss returned home, the two contacted authorities. When officers arrived on scene, they inspected the light area, as well, and one confirmed that it was very possibly a camera. However, no other actions were taken.
Since the occurrence, Boss and Horman reached out to the rental safety team who are said to be investigating the matter.
The two were fully refunded and relocated to another rental property.
Many online expressed their dismay at the women calling authorities since they weren’t sure it was actually a camera. Others were just simply skeptical.
“That’s a literal light socket and wires are you serious?” one person wrote.
“Electrician here. It wasn’t a camera. Just an empty light fixture,” someone else wrote.
In the end, Boss says that she won’t probably stay in an Airbnb again unless it is with a group.
