Woman Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison For Fatally Shooting Her Boyfriend At A Carwash In South Dallas

43-year-old Shamkea Khalid will serve 20 years in prison for shooting and killing her boyfriend, Eric Barber, 45, in South Dallas.

The incident occurred in April 2022, just after 2 a.m., at a car wash in the 4500 block of Elsie Fay Higgins St.

A party had been going on when Khalid began to fight with other individuals. As things worsened, Khalid projected her anger towards Barber and eventually shot him, prior to leaving the location. Barber was taken to a medical facility where he was declared deceased.

Khalid was later located and apprehended in the 4700 block of Meadow Street.

The matter was prosecuted by lead attorney Adam Sieffert, and the investigation was performed by the Dallas Police Department.
