Woman Hospitalized After Being Attacked By A Buck

Last Thursday, a woman in Evanston, Wyoming, had to be placed in the hospital after she was gored by a buck. This occurred just outside of her back door. The buck also attacked her husband when he tried to assist.

It was totally unexpected for a community that is used to witnessing plenty of deer.

In the middle of the morning, Wanda Kaynor had gone outside to transport her husband, Daniel, to an appointment.

“There was this buck sitting there, just laying there,” Daniel stated.

Wanda Kaynor was taken by surprise, and their dog was, too. The dog actually went after the buck.

“Of course, the buck didn’t like that. So, he went after him with his antlers and shoved him underneath the car,” Daniel said.

That’s when his wife took action.

“She threw her hat at the thing, and of course, it came after her now,” Daniel said.

The four-point buck pushed its antlers into Wanda Kaynor, leaving her with seven puncture wounds. It knocked her to the ground and stepped on her, fracturing a vertebra in the back. Her husband then went outside to see what was happening.

“I grabbed him by the antlers, trying to pull him off,” he said.

Daniel had been punctured by an antler on his waist, as well.

“It happened so fast,” he stated.

Because Wanda was severely injured, she had to be transported to the hospital by a neighbor. Her husband stated that she will have to enter a rehab facility.

Subsequent to the attack, the buck walked around their front yard and remained in the shade on the couple’s front porch. After a family member contacted Wyoming Fish and Game, the buck was euthanized.

“Having a buck stomp on you on the ground…I was pretty traumatized…,” the husband stated.

“I think she’s going to check that door when she comes out, for sure,” he added.
