Lynn Keene, a 70 year-old from North Carolina, was found buried in concrete in the basement of her residence.
She had terminated her caregiver in June, but the caregiver was still residing there at the end of July.
Elizabeth Carserino, 53, was employed to take care of Keene after she had fallen and experienced a traumatic brain injury.
Family members contacted authorities about the missing woman in July. They hadn’t talked with Keene since June 14.
When first investigated, the home was locked up and Keene’s car wasn’t discovered at the home.
The car later showed up at the house and Carserino’s cellphone was traced to the same area of the vehicle.
Blood was located on the walls, ceilings, and floor in the restroom of Keene’s house. Officials say Keene was hit with a belt and took a blow to the head.
Carserino was charged with murder, identity theft, and other charges.
