On Tuesday, a woman was fatally shot on the highway in New Orleans, authorities say.
The victim’s relatives have identified her as Whitney Watts. They added that Watts’s daughter was in the car with her at the time.
The shooting occurred around 2:54 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-10 at Crowder Boulevard.
Watts was declared dead at the scene.
” I was actually on the phone with her when it happened. I was on Facetime. I heard my niece screaming in the background, telling her mom to wake up…,” stated Watts’ sister-in-law.
Camera footage from the location showed bullets hitting the vehicle’s side and back window. The black Dodge Challenger then slammed into barricades on the side of the expressway.
An investigation into the shooting is taking place.
