On March 17, Mirelle Mateus, 24, was noticeably missing. Thus, her mother traveled to the apartment of her daughter’s former boyfriend in Anaheim, California. Since the door was unlocked, she went inside.
Alice Mateus, the mother, then discovered Mirelle dead in the restroom.
Aaron Romo, 36, was apprehended for the killing by Riverside County and was charged with the killing of his former girlfriend.
Romo has a past of domestic violence. On Dec. 5, he had an incident with his former wife. He was charged with felony corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and false imprisonment. Additionally, he was charged with misdemeanors, such as resisting arrest and battery. That matter is still pending.
Authorities believe that Romo has attacked other women before and has encouraged any other potential victims to come forward.
No motive for the killing is known, and an investigation is continuing.
