On August 5, around 7 p.m., Dallas police responded to a crash on the 8700 block of Elam involving a pedestrian.
Once officers arrived they learned that a marked squad car had been traveling east on Elam to a call, with no lights or sirens. A woman was standing in the median when she ran in front of two vehicles trying to turn left onto Cedarcliff Dr and into the lane the officer was traveling in.
The officer struck the woman and stopped to render aid until paramedics could arrive.
She was transported to an area hospital where she passed away Tuesday, August 6.
This is an ongoing investigation.
The officer was not injured.
