A woman in Ohio has pled guilty to kidnapping charges. This is after stealing a car with 5-month-old twins inside in December 2022.
On Wednesday, 25-year-old Nalah Jackson pled guilty to two counts of kidnapping a minor. She has agreed to a 20-year sentence in prison for her offenses.
On December 19, 2022, Jackson stole a vehicle with two infants inside that had been buckled into the back seat, police say.
Kyair and Kason Thomas, twin brothers, were in the vehicle as its engine was running. This was outside of a pizza parlor in Columbus, Ohio. Their mother had been inside the pizza shop retrieving a delivery order.
Jackson traveled to different locations with the twins prior to dropping just Kyair off in a parking lot at the Dayton International Airport. However, this didn’t occur until the following morning.
Authorities were alerted after the child was found by someone else in the area.
Jackson then went to Indianapolis, Indiana, with the other twin, Kason. She had been offering stolen products for sale outside of a gas station when she met a lady who didn’t know about her offenses and decided to assist her.
After learning on social media that Jackson was wanted for kidnapping the twins, that woman led authorities to Jackson three days following the kidnapping. The woman and her cousin also assisted authorities in finding Kason who was discovered in the stolen car.
After he was found, Kason had to be treated for dehydration and heart abnormalities because of the dehydration. He also had severe diaper rash and skin deterioration because he had been buckled in the seat for three days as he sat in his own excrement.
About a month after the abduction and rescue, Kason died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. He had been placed face down on a bed that contained numerous pillows and an excessive amount of bedding. The manner of his death was said to be undetermined.
Prior to this incident, Jackson had been found guilty of crimes against children.
In 2021, she faced child endangerment charges after her 11-month-old daughter tumbled down a flight of stairs. She pled guilty and received 13 days in prison and two years probation.
