A Florida woman has been arrested in connection with the death of an infant she was caring for last summer.
According to Bay County Sheriffs Deputies Mary Evans,40 was babysitting a nine week old baby back in June of 2021.
Authorities say they were called to a residence on Fountain where they found Evans and an infant unconscious.
Both Evans and the infant were rushed to an area hospital where the infant was pronounced dead.
Detectives say Evans purchased drugs before going to babysit the infant. When they arrived to the home they found her slumped over in a chair with her upper body smothering the child.
Investigators tested the blue pill found at the residence and learned it contained fentanyl.
Evans was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child.
