The ex-fiancée of a Rowlett man, who was found guilty of cyberstalking and killing another woman, who was his former girlfriend, is facing charges for assisting in planning the killing.

In June 2022, 36-year-old Andrew Charles Beard pleaded guilty to killing his former girlfriend, 24-year-old Alyssa Ann Burkett, in 2020.

In May, Beard was given a 43-year federal prison sentence.

On July 6, 2023, Beard’s former fiancée, Holly Ann Elkins, 32, was apprehended in Miami. She is facing three charges in connection to Burkett’s killing. These include conspiracy to stalk, stalking using a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury and death, and brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.

Documents note that Elkins assisted with the planning of the October 2, 2020, killing of Burkett. Burkett was the mother of his child. It added that Elkins and Beard bought a GPS tracking device and put it on Burkett’s car without her knowing.

Elkins contacted authorities on July 25, 2020, using another name. She inaccurately reported that she saw Burkett driving recklessly. A month following that, Elkins called police and falsely stated that Burkett’s mother had assaulted her while Burkett was around.

Then, in September 2020, Elkins and Beard are said to have placed illegal drugs and a firearm in Burkett’s vehicle. They then called police to falsely report that Burkett was selling drugs to men out of her car at an apartment complex.

After Elkins and Beard purchased a van, makeup for a disguise, shotgun shells, and a knife, Beard fatally shot Burkett in the head. This was done as she sat in her car in a parking lot at her place of employment.

Beard drove off after believing that Burkett was dead. However, after seeing her moving, he returned and stabbed her 13 times.

Burkett then died at the location.

Documents claim that Elkins stayed at Beard’s residence and watched Burkett’s child to create an alibi. When questioned a few days later, Elkins deceived authorities by stating that Beard had been at home at the time of the killing.

If she is found guilty, Elkins could be sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in federal prison.
