Houma, La authorities are investigating after a woman bit off a large piece of an officers ear during a disturbance.
Police were called to Joni B’s Bar on Howard Avenue around 12:16am Friday morning for a disturbance.
According to reports several women were outside the bar fighting when authorities arrived.
When officers tried to intervene one of the suspects, Michelle Smith,36 allegedly bit off a piece of one of the officers ear.
She then fled the scene before being arrested.
The officer was transported to an area hospital but is now home recovering.
Smith is currently wanted on one count of battery and a warrant for her arrest has been issued.
