Tragic news is ringing though the basketball community as a well known basketball coach dies.
Erven Davis, a former UNT graduate assistant coach died Monday.
Erven built a nationally known AAU summer basketball program.
The news comes from Davis’ organization, Dallas Showtyme.
They announced the heartbreaking news on Twitter.
Several people across social media posted remarks that showed admiration, respect, and gratitude toward Davis.
Shawn Forest, a former UNT assistant coach, said “Davis was all about the kids.
He was always trying to help people and was genuine.”
His family and friends called him ‘Big E’.
“RIP Big E,” Baylor assistant coach Alvin Brooks tweeted.
“Big E always treated me like family, no matter what school I was at!
Praying for his family and all the people he impacted!”
Davis was a huge inspiration and mentor.
He impacted thousands of lives through life and his love for people and basketball.
Davis will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Davis’s cause of death has not been released.
