Waitress Allegedly Earns 1 Cent After Six Weeks Of Working In Restaurant

TikToker, Liny, 25, is a service employee who stated that she only earned 1 cent in six weeks while being a waitress in Nashville, Tennessee. In a video posted in October, Liny displays her paycheck stub for all to see.

In the United States, the federal minimum wage for employees who are tipped is $2.13. But, in Tennessee, federal, Social Security, and Medicare Taxes are taken out from wages. Thus, Liny only had 1 cent remaining on her check from her place of employment.

Liny didn’t disclose how many hours she worked during the sex-week timeframe or how much she earned in tips. Underneath her posted video, the caption said, “Tip your servers!”

Some viewers criticized her request. “It’s not my job to pay your bills. I got my own to pay,” a comment that received 10,000 likes stated.

Then, some others agreed with Liny. “If you can’t tip, go to McDonalds or cook at home!”
