Video Shows Plano High School Students Playing ‘Hangman’ In Classroom, Spelling Out Part Of The N-Word

A group of high school students, in Plano, Texas, are facing disciplinary action after a recording shows them involved in using a racial slur.

On Thursday, President Chad Evans, of John Paul II High School, sent home a letter to parents. It stated that the incident occurred during a “free period” as students were playing a game.

The school validated that the 19-second video is from one of its classrooms. It was uploaded to a social media app.

The recording shows three students playing Hangman in the classroom. The last four letters of the six-digit word could already be seen. A student then put a ‘N’ as the first letter before quickly removing it.

The school says they were notified of the incident last Monday after it occurred the week before. They also say that the teacher didn’t know about the situation.

“John Paul II High School does not condone these students’ actions and will not allow any discriminatory remarks, threats, or behaviors on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, nationality or disability.”

The school has not said what consequences the students have faced.
