A wreck on SH-121 in Grapevine on Tuesday has turned into a death investigation after an injured driver died the following day.
On Tuesday, around 11:55 p.m. Grapevine Police Department responded to a major highway accident in the 2000 block of North SH-121. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered an injured man in the roadway.
A tow truck, which belonged to the victim, was approximately 30 feet behind him and had rear damage.
A male driver in a work vehicle was also at the scene of the crash but did not have any injuries.
According to police, the man in his work vehicle admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel and not waking up until impact.
The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries but was expected to survive.
The following day, April 17, police were notified that the tow truck driver had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
A death investigation into the matter was launched shortly after. No arrests have been made at this time.
