Usain Bolt has stated that saving more than half of pay has been the most valuable lesson in personal finance.

“Then, you can spend the rest and pay bills. I tell people if you make $10, save $6, and then you can figure out what to do with the rest, ” he said in an interview.

The 34 year-old sprinter from Jamaica doesn’t deny that he wasted alot of money after gaining fame but before retiring in 2017. He stated that he would have told his younger self to save all he could if he could go back in time.

He credits people around him for mentoring him on finances. He is number 45 on the Forbes List of highest-paid athletes.

Bolt says observing athletes with long-term injuries convinced him to ensure that he always saved up money.
