UPS Driver Dies on Delivery Route After Collapsing In Heat

8kviews

Esteban Chavez Jr., from Southern California, was a UPS driver who passed away right after he turned 24 years old.

Last Saturday, as Chavez Jr. was out on a delivery route, he passed out. His relatives believe that he then died from a heat stroke.

On that day, June 25, the temperature was in the high 90s, in Pasadena.

Esteban’s family says that it seems as though he fell unconscious in his truck early in the afternoon. There was close to a 20-minute time period before anyone saw him and got assistance.

“This is all so sudden. He just turned 24 on Friday, and he ended up passing away the day after which was the 25th,” said his father, Esteban Chavez Sr.

The coroner will work to note an official cause of death. Meanwhile, Chavez Jr.’s relatives wants to warn others of how dangerous the heat can be. “Take precautions, drink plenty of water, and keep cool.”

A GoFundMe has been created to assist the family with Chavez Jr.’s funeral services. Esteban had just celebrated a birthday, but it was also only the second day that he had gone back to work after hurting his shoulder.

Esteban, who was also known as Stevie or Lil Stevie, had been employed at UPS for four years. He enjoyed it there and wanted to achieve more with the company, his family said.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our driver Esteban Chavez and extend our condolences to his family and friends. We are cooperating with investigating authorities…,” UPS said in a released statement.

  1. Unfortunately, I believe the UPS driver probably got hooked on the opiates they were giving him for his shoulder. I believe that’s why he passed out & because of the heat & humidity he just didn’t wake back up. I hope it wasn’t drugs, but, he was so young. God Bless him & his family ❤️🙏🏼
