29-year-old Adam Johnson, a U.S ice hockey player, died on Saturday during a cup match. A skate had cut his throat.
Johnson, a part of the UK’s Nottingham Panthers, had been competing against the Sheffield Steelers when the incident occurred. A skate blade had hit him in the neck.
Sources report that many of the 8,000 attendees that were there at the match were left traumatized.
The occurrence is said to have taken place as a Sheffield Steeler attempted to body check another of Johnson’s teammates.
After the match had come to a halt, protective screens were placed on the ice, around Johnson.
Previously, Johnson had played two collegiate seasons at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
He also played 13 games with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins throughout the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
Congratulations to the US team. Hopefully one day soon we can play geometry dash lite together
