On Saturday night, two boys, aged 3 years old and 11 months old, were fatally stabbed in the Bronx, New York. Their mother has been placed in custody.
Authorities say that the homicides occured at a family shelter on Echo Place in the Mount Hope community. The boys were found with stab injuries to their neck and torso.
At around 7:30 p.m., police arrived to the location after receiving a call and discovered the mother acting strangely on the third floor. She then attempted to set the apartment on fire with the stove and then turned the water on.
The mother, who is thought to be responsible for the deaths, was transported to a hospital for an evaluation and is still in custody.
Witnesses told police that they overheard the parents having a disagreement and screaming earlier that night. Later, they heard the boys’ father yelling for help. He then began carrying the boys out as they were unconscious, and blood was everywhere.
The father and others attempted to revive the boys who were later taken to a medical facility where they were declared deceased.
An investigation is on-going.
