Fort Worth Police have arrested two women in connection with the death of J’Tavian Howard.

The incident occurred on November 28, 2024, around 9:47 p.m., when investigators responded to a shooting in the vicinity of the 2800 block of Broadmoor Dr., where they discovered that Howard had been fatally shot while 17 year old Tai Sanders and 20 year old Paige Wheaton were allegedly involved in an attempted aggravated robbery.

As part of their investigation, detectives gathered video evidence of the shooting and interviewed several potential witnesses that same night.

Evidence from a cell phone, along with witness statements, showed that Sanders had provided misleading information about her role in the shooting. Detectives found a group text message involving Sanders, Wheaton, and two other males, indicating a conspiracy to rob Howard at gunpoint. During this attempted robbery, gunfire broke out between the two males and Howard, resulting in multiple gunshot injuries. It was also confirmed that Wheaton was nearby, waiting to pick them up after the robbery attempt.

Howard was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Sanders and Wheaton are currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail, facing charges of Capital Murder.
