Two Tons Of Cocaine Seized While Floating In The Sea

787views

On Monday, Italian police discovered two tons of cocaine that was drifting off the east coast of Sicily. It is a record-breaking seizure for the agency.

A recording of the drugs, packed in 70 waterproof packages and kept together by a net, held up by a life preserver, was released by authorities. There was also a tracking instrument connected to the drugs.

The discovery was made following an aerial patrol. The cocaine is believed to have been left in the water by a cargo ship to later be picked up and taken to the mainland by a criminal group.

The Cosa Nostra syndicate, the most dominant mafia group in Italy, has had a strong presence on the island of Sicily for a long time. However, it isn’t known if they are responsible for the drugs.
