Two Relatives Murdered, Another Shot When Intruder Breaks Into Arlington Home

2.5kviews

Overnight on Monday, two family members died and another is recovering after somebody broke into their residence in Southwest Arlington and started shooting.

Authorities say that multiple people called 911, reporting gunfire on the 5300 block of Ivy Hill Drive right after 12 a.m.

When officers got to the location, they discovered 84-year-old George Nitshe dead from gunshot wounds. Two other people were wounded and taken to a medical facility.

41-year-old Matthew Stuart died later at the hospital. A woman, 67, was treated and has been released.

Police don’t know who the suspect is, nor do they know a motive for the killings. However, they do believe that the victims were targeted.

On Monday afternoon, a woman with a bandage was seen exiting out of the residence. She stated that she had been shot in the leg and that Stuart was her son. She described him as someone who “would give you the shirt off his back.”

She added that the other victim was her ex-spouse and that he was a good person.

She said that both men were killed by someone they didn’t know.

Arlington police are investigating the matter. They say this wasn’t the first time they have responded to a call about an intruder at the home.
