Two nurses on Long Island, New York, have been accused of making over $1.5 million after falsifying COVID-19 vaccination cards.
Julie DeVuono, 49, owns Wild Child Pediatric Healthcare. Marissa Urraro, 44, works for her. They both have been charged with felony forgery. DeVuono also faces a charge of offering a false instrument for filing.
The Suffolk County district attorney stated that DeVuono is a nurse practitioner, and Urraro is a licensed practical nurse. He says that the women sold fake vaccination cards for adults for $220 and $85 for children. Urraro is the one who input the fake information into the state’s immunization system.
They were ultimately caught when they signed a vaccination card for an undercover detective. However, they never gave the detective a vaccine shot.
After a search of DeVuono’s residence, $900,000 in cash and a paper with their profits from the unlawful operation were found. The paper showed that the two had already made over $1.5 million off of their scheme that started in November 2021.
Last month, New York Governor Kathy Hochul made it against the law to make false vaccination cards.
