Two men in Mansfield have been arrested after police discovered stolen vehicles and parts subsequent to receiving a tip. It had a total worth of close to $665,000.
On September 14, the Italy Police Department reached out to the Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force. They told them about a place off of S. Highway 77 that had stolen cars and parts in their possession.
After getting a search warrant, authorities discovered 27 stolen cars and various parts that had been taken out of vehicles.
According to the National Automobile Dealers Association, the cars were worth a total of $578,175. At the same time, the parts were valued at a total of $86,802.
Adedeji Awoniyi, 33, and Theria Mitchell, 50, were arrested on September 21, 2021. They face charges of engaging in criminal activity and theft greater than $300,000.
The investigation is still continuing.
