British teenager Dea-John Reid was fatally stabbed in the heart during the daytime on May 31, 2021.

Now, two men and three teens are on trial in connection to his killing.

14-year-old Reid was “hunted down” and underwent racist verbal abuse in the Kingstanding section of Birmingham, England as he and his friends were on a street.

Michael Shields, 36, George Khan, 39, a 16-year-old, and two 15-year-olds are now on trial for the death of Reid. The minors’ names haven’t been released.

The moment that one of the 15-year-olds stabbed Reid was shown on a video recording in court. The suspects are observed running after Reid and then fleeing after he was stabbed in front of several people.

One witness stated that he saw Reid grab his stomach area before falling to the ground subsequent to two white males going after him. Reid died from his wounds at the scene.

Prosecutors said that all five people worked together during the killing and jurors were informed that they “left the victim to die in the street.” They added that one 15-year-old stated that he stabbed Reid in self-defense although those details aren’t clear. Khan is accused of driving the group to go chase Reid down.

The trial may go as long as 8 weeks.
