Two newborn girls died after they were discovered in a bathroom of a childcare center.
Authorities say that right after 7 p.m., on Thursday, officers arrived to the Bernice Lavin Early Childhood Education Center in Chicago. This came after someone had found the babies in the bathroom.
Reports indicate that a janitor may have been cleaning up blood in the bathroom when she discovered the two infant girls in a trash bag.
The infants were transported to a hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
The center released a statement, noting that a staff member had unexpectedly delivered twin girls.
Although the childcare center is located on the Northwestern Memorial Hospital campus, the woman wasn’t employed there. She works for Bright Horizons daycare.
As of Friday, no one was in custody in regards to the matter, and an investigation is on-going.
