Two Deputies Fired After Video Captured Them Violently Beating Man During Arrest

Three sheriff’s deputies in Crawford County, Arkansas, were caught on camera as they beat a man during an arrest in August. Two of them have now been terminated from their jobs.

On Thurday, authorities stated that Zack King and Levi White have been fired from the department.

On August 21, 27-year-old Randal Worcester was seen being beaten by the deputies and Thell Riddle, a police officer from the city of Mulberry. Worcester was said to have threatened a store cashier in the city of Alma prior to riding his bike to Mulberry where he was stopped by authorities.

One of the officers was seen punching Worcester in the head numerous times and pushed it into the pavement. The other officer kneed him continuously while the third one held Worcester down.

“I’m glad to see that Crawford County has decided to do the right thing and fire these officers. However, this is only a single step in the right direction, but nowhere near the end of the journey for justice,” said Worcester’s lawyer.

As of Thursday, Riddle was still on paid administrative leave.

In addition to the actions already taken, officers are also facing a civil lawsuit.

Worcester’s attorney says that it is interesting that the Crawford County Sheriff’s office changed their story from their initial claims and video statements. However, he is pleased that they eventually chose to do the right thing.

“Now, these former officers will have to take responsibility for their actions in our lawsuit,” he added.
