Authorities are searching for suspects after two people were fatally shot and several more were wounded in a shooting at a Juneteenth event on Saturday evening.

Police in Round Rock, Texas, say that the shooting started close to 10:50 p.m. at Old Settlers Park. This came following a physical altercation among two groups who were at the celebration.

“The unfortunate part is that we had innocent victims as a result of this reckless action of certain subjects. We’re here to celebrate Juneteenth, and the unfortunate part is these folks could care less about someone’s life and take someone’s life and on a day we’re here to celebrate community,” stated Police Chief Allen Banks.

First responders swiftly provided aid to the victims, and four adults and two kids had possible serious wounds. Six people were transported to local hospitals, but their conditions are unknown.

Reports indicate that those that were hurt were not involved in the altercation.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased,” Banks stated.

Police think that the suspects left the area, and authorities are still looking for them.

Those with a recording or details about the incident are urged to contact the Round Rock Police Department at 512-218-5500.
