Living Waters Childcare, a daycare in Rochester, NY, fired two employees for leaving a 2-year-old girl in the daycare van.
The childcare’s van monitor and driver were both fired for leaving Makyia Artis, 2, in the van during the school-day.
Makyia was picked up from her home by the usual daycare bus monitors. Makyia told the “teachers” she was tired, so they allowed her to lay down for the rest of the trip. When they arrived at the school, however, the employees and other students went inside while Makyia was left sleeping. She was left in a 18 degree, snow covered van and marked absent from school.
The owner of Living Water Childcare, Sara Dunbar, says the driver failed to sign Makyia in.
Makyia’s grandmother, Brenda Powell, revealed that the two employees brought the little girl home late and cold. Accodring to Makyia, the driver gave her money and told her to keep quiet about what happened.
Her family intends on filing a lawsuit.
