Brothers, 8-year-old Jesus and 9-year-old Sebastian Perez-Salome and another person were killed by gunshots while they were playing with kittens outside of their residence in Pennsylvania. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening.

Now, two men and a teen been have been charged for their deaths. One of those men are still being sought.

A relative of the children stated that the boys’ mother had been working at a store close by as she heard the gunshots. She quickly ran to them and found that they had been shot.

22-year-old Alex Torres Santos and 16-year-old James Fernandez-Reyes have been charged with three counts of criminal homicide. They also face charges of aggravated assault, conspiracy, and weapon offenses. When the shooting occurred, Santos had been on house arrest for other offenses and was wearing an ankle monitor.

The shooters were seemingly aiming at the other person killed, 19-year-old Joshua Lugo-Perez, because of a prior argument. All the of the boys killed lived together, but Lugo-Perez wasn’t related to them.

In 2019, the brothers’ family had moved to the United States from Puerto Rico in order to find better opportunities. To add to this tragedy, the family lost their home in a fire last year.

Santos and the other suspects could face the death penalty if convicted.
