On May 3, 2021, Transportation Security Administration officer Le’Shonte Jones, 24, was fatally shot outside of her residence. Her 3-year-old daughter was standing next to her. She was also hurt.

Authorities now say that the Homestead, Florida, murder was the result of a hired hit job. Documents note that it was paid for with a federal Paycheck Protection Program loan.

The incident occurred in broad daylight. Authorities indicated that the suspect had on a black hoodie at the time. Now, Javon Carter, 29, Romiel Robinson, 35, and Jasmine Martinez, 33, have been arrested for the killing.

Reports claim that Martinez planned for Jones, who was employed at Miami International Airport, to be killed. This was subsequent to Jones’s plans to testify against Martinez and two other individuals after being beat up and robbed at gunpoint.

Martinez had obtained $15,000 from a COVID-19-related PPP loan and paid Carter to kill Jones with the federal money. Bank statements showed large withdrawals before the killing.

A warrant claims that a video was located on Carter’s phone from the day of the murder. It revealed him counting a big stash of money and boasting, “Just another day at the office.” It was also alleged that Robinson negotiated the price for the murder of Carter. Robinson is Martinez’s boyfriend.

Carter and Robinson are still jailed with no bail. Martinez was located in a different county and will eventually be extradited back to Miami-Dade.
