President Donald Trump just got impeached. House Democrats have moved to make trump the third president in US history to be impeached. “ The president is an ongoing threat to our national security and the integrity of our elections—— The basis of our democracy. “ House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said as she opened the debate on the House floor on impeachment earlier Wednesday. Shortly after 8:30 PM the house was able to pass the first article of impeachment——abuse of power. Just minutes later, the House passed the second article——obstruction of congress. Now the Senate will hold a trial and vote on whether to remove Trump from office, meanwhile the exact timing and process still needs to be established. Trump is being accused of using the power of his office to boost his reelection chances and of obstructing Congress is constitutionally authorized powers of investigation to cover up his previous actions. Months, the president avoided a White House meeting that Ukraine’s President was desperately seeking. President Trump help up $391 million in military aid that congress has approved for Ukraine, a country facing conflict with Russia. The funds were released after Congress put pressure on the presidents campaign. Democrats attempted to investigate what happened but Trump issued a blanket order that no one in his administration should cooperate with Congress’ investigation. Democrats took that information and created the second article of impeachment: obstruction of Congress. “ Donald J.Trump sacrificed our national security in an effort to cheat in the next election. And for that, and his continued efforts to seek foreign interference in our elections, he must be impeached,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said. The president and his party set a different tone Wednesday afternoon. “SUCH ATROCIOUS LIES BY THE RADICAL LEFT, DO NOTHING DEMOCRATS. THIS IS AN ASSAULT ON AMERICA. AND AN ASSAULT ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!” Trump tweeted. Tensions ran high when making the decision within House representatives to impeach Trump but nevertheless, the vote has been called.
