Ohio State Highway Patrol confiscated over 750 pounds of marijuana, valued at over $1 million dollars in northeast Ohio Tuesday.
Just before 12:30 p.m., OSHP stopped a Penske rental truck with Virginia registration for a marked lanes violation on a turnpike in Summit County.
While troopers were addressing the driver, they smelled marijuana towards the back of the truck. Upon searching the vehicle, they located two shipping crates that had 27 cardboard boxes filled with packages of marijuana that apparently had been vacuumed sealed.
The driver, a woman from Colorado, was arrested and taken to Summit County Jail. She was charged with possession and drug trafficking. OSHP stated that if the woman is convicted, she would be facing a lengthy sentence of up to 16 years in prison and a fine upwards of $30,000.
