Trial Date Scheduled For Suspect In Killing Of Two Sisters In Commerce

Jacques Dshawn Smith has been arraigned again in Hunt County, Texas, after charges against him have been upgraded to Capital Murder. This is for the killing of a Texas A &M Commerce student and her sister.

In February 2020, Abbaney Matts, and her sister Deja, were shot and killed in a university dorm room.

On June 5, Smith will face a competency hearing.

Additionally, he has been charged with murder in another matter stemming out of Denton and charges of robbery in the city of Dallas.
