Travis High School Coach Shot And Killed By Stepchildren’s Biological Father At Sports Complex

A Travis High School coach was shot and killed outside the Seabourne Creek Sports Complex Saturday afternoon.
Officers responded to a shooting call on the 3700 block of Fountains Dr.
Upon arrival they located Derwyn Lauderdale,29 suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect, James Hamilton,28, was later arrested after witnesses told police he shot the victim over a family dispute.

According to reports Lauderdale was the stepfather to Hamilton’s biological children.
Hamilton has an extensive criminal background from Harris, Brazoria and Galveston Counties which included violation of a protective order, unlawful carrying of a weapon and terroristic threat causing fear of imminent serious bodily injury.
Hamilton has been arrested and charged with murder.
