Harvey Marcelin, 83, is a transgender woman who was apprehended in relation to a severed torso with no limbs attached. It had been discovered a block from her residence, in Brooklyn, in a shopping cart, on March 3.

Susan Layden, 68, was identified as the woman whose body parts were found.

Marcelin was connected to the killing after Layden was seen on camera footage, entering the serial killer’s apartment on Feb. 27. She was never seen anymore. Additionally, Marcelin was seen getting rid of certain body parts, an arrest warrant noted.

After a search was conducted, a head was found. An electric saw, that is believed to have been used to dismember the body in the apartment, too, was also recovered.

Even though all the body parts haven’t been found, one leg was was retrieved a week later.

Prior to this, Marcelin had spent more than 50 years in state prison after killing two ex-girlfriends. She served 20 years for the first killing in 1963. Not even a year after that, she was freed. In 1984, she fatally stabbed another ex-girlfriend. She was convicted of first-degree murder and was released in 2019.

Marcelin is in custody at Rikers Island.  She has been charged with second-degree murder.
