Natalie Hanna White, John Wesley Wade, and Chisom Kingston were indicted this week for setting fire to the Wendy’s where police shot and killed Rayshard Brooks in the summer of 2020.

Brooks fell asleep in his car at the Wendy’s drive-thru line which caused many people to call 9-1-1. When officers arrived, they conducted a field sobriety test on Brooks before a struggle breaks out. Brooks eventually grabs one of the officer’s tasers and tries to walk away before he is shot twice in the back, killing him.

This incident sparked outrage in the nation, which was already mourning the loss of George Floyd.

Protesters gathered at the Wendy’s to rally against the police brutality. Moments later the building is engulfed with flames from the suspects starting multiple fires inside the closed building.

Atlanta Fire Department officials said there were at least 10 different attempts to set the building on fire.

At least 36 people were arrested that evening. White, Kingston, and Wade were apprehended at a later time following the incident.

They were charged with two counts of arson and also conspiracy to commit arson. They have all since bonded out of jail.
