Three ex-police officers, in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, received their punishment on Friday. This was in relation to the shooting and killing of 8-year-old Fanta Bility.

Devon Smith, Sean Dolan, and Brian Devaney have all been sentenced to 11 months of home confinement and five years probation. They had pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment.

“They are going to be held on house arrest for eleven months. That is a form of incarceration. They are going to be on probation for five years,” stated the Delaware County DA. He added that he concurred with the judge’s decision.

“She did what she did best, to find a middle and a just sentence,” he added.

On August 27, 2021, gunshots could be heard outside of the Academy Park football stadium while Fanta Bility had been leaving a high school football game.

Upon hearing those shots and trying to respond, the three officers fired their weapons in the direction of Fanta Bility, killing her and injuring her family and others.

Fanta Bility’s family has also filed a lawsuit against Sharon Hill Borough in federal court over the shooting and killing. This comes after the borough council released a redacted report on authorities’ response, training, and the use of force. The borough has yet to release the entire document.
