Three 11-year-old girls are being praised after stopping their 6-year-old neighbor from being abducted.
According to NBC News, on Wednesday, authorities in Kent, Washington, had gotten a call from a witness that they had observed a man trying to kidnap a young child.
When authorities arrived to the scene, they saw the man and attempted to go after him.
After he was caught, the three 11-year-old girls disclosed to police that they had been walking to an ice cream truck when they saw the man holding their 6-year-old neighbor by her arm. The victim had looked scared and had been instructing the man to let go of her.
The trio then began to walk up to the man, recorded on their cell phones, and asked whether he knew the girl as he had picked her up and started to walk away. The suspect confirmed that he did know the girl as the victim shook her head, saying that he didn’t. He then put the girl down and left the location while the girls took their young neighbor back home.
A family member validated that the suspect and the child did not know each other and said they were appreciative that authorities were called, and the child was brought back safely.
The 40-year-old unidentified suspect was apprehended on suspicion of kidnapping and placed into the King County Jail.
