Authorities are searching for the person who broke into a trailer that contained $750,000 worth of dimes.
The incident occurred on Thursday, leaving $100,000 worth or more of dimes that were stolen. The truck had retrieved the coins from the U.S. Mint and was stationed in a Walmart parking lot overnight, officials in Philadelphia have said.
Authorities received a call at about 6 a.m. in regards to the crime.
A recording from a helicopter depicted coins scattered throughout the parking lot.
The unmarked trailer was headed to Florida, and the driver resides close by, leading him to leave the truck until the morning.
It seems as though the thieves utilized a bolt cutter to get into the truck where the dimes had been stored in bags on pallets.
No apprehensions have been made, and an investigation is on-going.
