Without the public knowing, Teyana Taylor filed for divorce from Iman Shumpert, close to a year ago. She cited that her husband of seven years has continually been a jealous narcissist.
Court records show that Teyana filed for divorce from the ex-NBA player in January. This is more than eight months prior to them noting that they were separating.
Even though Shumpert was making a lot more money than Taylor as a basketball player, she claims that he was still jealous and insecure when it came to her.
Taylor added that when in public with Shumpert, he would get upset when he was requested by photogs to move out of the frame.
Sources close to Taylor noted that she wanted to keep the matter secret and only filed with her initials. However, when Iman filed his documents in the divorce proceedings, he used his full name. This brought the issue to the spotlight.
Taylor says that following that, Shumpert started to send her text messages that were negative, being sarcastic and manipulative about her being in the spotlight. She claims that he would start arguments for no reason, this includes on her birthday, and then act like he was sorry later.
Additionally, Taylor says that some recording and acting jobs she didn’t take to please Shumpert. However, when she didn’t work when she had one of their children, Iman complained because she wasn’t earning any money.
Teyana has stated that Iman hasn’t been in their home since October and hasn’t been with their children a lot since then.
She is seeking temporary and primary physical custody, including joint legal custody and child support.
