Texas Supreme Court Allows Evictions And Debt Collections To Resume

As of Thursday night the Texas Supreme Court lifted the pause on the eviction and debt collection proceedings, allowing them to resume next week despite the Coronavirus Spread.
May 19, is when the trials, hearing and proceedings of residential evictions will resume and all the warning notices will be sent out on May 26.
The eviction proceedings processed during March 27 through July 25, tenants covered under provisions of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act passed by Congress will be exempt.
On May 18, the court also issued an emergency order allowing debt collectors to resume their work. The note states that debtors and receivers are allowed to request a hearing, in person or by remote viewing, to determine how the payments will be made, attributing to a stimulus payment under the CARES Act.
This will expire on August 12, and both cab be extended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
