An investigation is underway after a Sonic employee was shot and killed by a customer over the weekend.

On July 7, around 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call on the 5500 block of Babcock Road. Upon arrival they found a man with a gunshot wound.

Emergency crews arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

After further investigating officers learned that there was some sort of altercation between the manager and a customer in the drive thru. The customer then pulled out a gun and shot the employee before fleeing the scene.

It is unclear if the victim knew the suspect but authorities are reviewing video surveillance footage to get a description of the suspect.

This is an ongoing investigation.
